Le Malentendu
This is a drawing I did long ago. Working at a dreadful little used bookstore, I ended up going home with lots of abused old books, most of which fell apart if you so much as looked at them wrong. I used an old copy of Camus’ Le Malentendu <<The Misunderstanding>> as the background for this. Since I felt bad destroying a book, I only used the pages that had already fallen out by the time it came to me.
Eventually this became the cover for Dead Center 99, the literary magazine I art-directed my last year of high school (hence the copy in the middle). The rest of the paper back is moldering somewhere in my apartment, held together with rubberbands.
